Promoting Integration of Birth Story
Kilometer Thirteen holds a safe space for families to
process difficult or unpredictable circumstances from
any point in the pre-conception, conception,
pregnancy, and birth journey.

Offering Standby NICU Support
Kilometer Thirteen responds when your neonate or infant
experiences prolonged periods of crying, lack of connection,
fast or slow heart rate, excessive respiratory rate, and other
forms of dysregulation. You can prearrange for K13 to provide
standby services. This also extends to accompanying your baby
during procedures. K13 can help your child to feel human
connection and safety in the midst of chaotic or
disturbing---but necessary---medical care.

Offering NICU Care for Baby
When Family Cannot be Present
Family may not always be able to be present with
the neonate or infant in the NICU. When increased human
connection is desired for your baby, Kilometer Thirteen
can provide supplemental care in the NICU.

Offering Palliative Care
The circumstances of the NICU can place families in the position of
having to make impossible decisions. It is inherent in the nature
of these choices that they are fraught with double binds. Through
the practice of Castellino Prenatal and Birth Therapy, K13 can sit
with you in the tension field of your personal history and what it means
for you to make these extraordinarily painful decisions. K13 can hold
a safe container within which you can reach—imperfect though
it may be—the best decision for you and your family.

If your baby requires palliative care, K13 can supplement family
care to reduce any period of time when your baby would,
otherwise, be alone on their journey.
